Games To Play With Baby On The Floor
Playing with your little one is all about fun but like all things with babies, everything we do with them has a purpose in terms of their ongoing development.  Playing with them is one of those things.
Play is important for your baby’s brain development, confidence, helping them feel loved and safe, developing physical skills and learning all about language and communication.
Whew … that seems like a lot for a simple game of peek-a-boo.
While your child is little, try to have as much unstructured play as you can.  There is so much structure in their lives once they get to school, that being able to free flow play helps them develop initiative, imagination and fun for the sake of it.
Our Organic Toys are perfect for floor play.
Games for different ages
Newborns and babies – did you know you are the best toy your kid can have? Ah ha … looking at your face and hearing your voice can enrapture your baby for a long time. While holding bub in your arms sing songs or hum.
Get down on the ground with them on your Finch & Folk playmat as you blow raspberries on their tummy and sing songs to them.
This is great time to engage with senses. As you start to move them onto their tummy, put them on the playmat and dangle streamers, fabric and other soft things near their face.
While you think your singing voice with not turn any chairs on The Voice, it is the sweetest sounds to your baby. While on their tummy, look into their eyes sing any song with movement – Round and Round The Mulberry Bush, The Wheels on the Bus, Row, Row, Row Your Boat, Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes, Itsy Bitsy Spider and Patty-Cake.
Toddlers – Finch & Folk have got some great playmats that have roads, maps and villages on them. Combine the playmat with blocks, cars and boxes to create stories and to give them time to practice their building skills and car noises.
